Abstract
First biochemical and spectroscopic characterization of Escherichia coli trihemic bacterial cytochrome c peroxidase, YhjA. YhjA has quinol peroxidase activity in vitro and does not require reductive activation for maximum activity, as peroxidatic heme is high-spin His/OH- 6-coordinated. Formation of a ferryl Fe(IV)â¯=â¯O intermediate species was observed upon incubation with H2O2.130
