Abstract
⺠Cytochrome c nitrated at tyrosine 46 or 48 exhibits an enhanced peroxidase activity. ⺠Alkaline transition of nitrated cytochrome c becomes biologically relevant. ⺠The high-spin, nitrated species of cytochrome c are degraded in vivo.
