Abstract
⺠We develop a nanotechnological technique to quantify nutrient fluxes. ⺠This technique can be applied to a host of environmental investigations. ⺠Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi used organic N in situ, challenging a common paradigm. ⺠Our results suggest how plants can compete with other microbes for soil nutrients.
