Abstract
⺠Structure of soil bacterial communities differed between two tropical forest soils. ⺠The structures of bacterial and tree communities were correlated. ⺠There was greater richness of bacterial taxa in the more nutrient-rich clay soil. ⺠Habitat filtering due to anoxia and pH may be important in community assembly. ⺠Differences likely result from responses to divergent soil and vegetation properties.
