Abstract
⺠Very low levels of proline and glycine betaine. ⺠Glutamate was present in larger amounts but was consistently 2-3% of microbial biomass carbon. ⺠These levels were well below what would be expected for osmoregulation within the microbial biomass due to dry season conditions.
