Abstract
⺠Fine root production has the same changing pattern as leaf production did. ⺠C input via fine root turnover contributes to soil carbon stock after plantation. ⺠The contribution of fine roots to C input depends on the life-form of shrubs. ⺠Soil water content explains the variations of carbon input among shrub stands.
