Abstract
⺠NH3 volatilization was responsible for the major gaseous N loss of fertilizer N. ⺠Denitrification was increased six-fold by AWD, but was still quantitatively insignificant. ⺠Approx. 10% of fertilizer N accumulated in deeper soil horizons (15-50 cm). ⺠AWD did not affect rice yield or fertilizer N loss.
