Abstract
⺠New experimental designs are needed to study the complex soil pore network/microbial community/OM decomposition system. ⺠We investigated tools to manipulate the soil pore and microbial community structure. ⺠Change in pore size distribution had a larger effect on the microbial community than substrate quality, pH or macro porosity. ⺠We conclude a distinct influence of soil pore network structure on microbial community structure and biomass C.
