Abstract
⺠Zoosporic true fungi are common inhabitants of many soil ecosystems. ⺠We have discussed some of the important characteristics of the morphology of zoosporic true fungi and their life cycles. ⺠These fungi have significant ecological roles in soil. ⺠A number of specific adaptations to soil environments possibly give these fungi advantages over other groups of microbes. ⺠New methods are being developed for studying microorganisms in three-dimensional space in soil.
