Abstract
Polyhydroxyalkanoates are produced by bacterial fermentation that contain ester as their functional group. Polymeric substances derived from living organisms are captivating owing to the fact of their adaptability, biocompatibility and biodegradability. The main objective of this study is to optimize the production of polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) by Pseudomonas aeruginosa SU-1 and to utilize the produced PHA for nanoparticle synthesis for drug delivery. PHA extracted from P.aeruginosaSU-1 was characterized and determined as Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and it was utilized to produce curcumin encapsulated nanoparticles by nanoprecipitation method using dichloromethane as solvent. The produced nanoparticles were characterized by Ultraviolet-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis and further tested for invitro drug release studies.
