Abstract
A year-long prospective cohort study was conducted in Colombian Paso Fino horse farms to determine the risk factors associated with total failure of passive transfer. The risk factors associated to management, dam, foaling and foal were correlated with failure of passive transfer. Foal's IgG levels were measured using an ELISA test at 24 hours of life; a test agreement to predict failure of passive transfer between the ELISA test and total plasma proteins was evaluated. X2 test and multinomial regression were also performed.
