Abstract
► This is the first study of CH4, CO2 and N2O concentrations in soil down to 300 cm. ► The distinct differences were found in greenhouse gas concentration profiles. ► CO2 concentrations were relatively high in the warm and moist maize growing season. ► No clear seasonal patterns were found for concentration profiles of CH4 and N2O. ► Temporary increases were most pronounced for N2O (e.g. nitrogen fertilization).
