Abstract
► Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) colonization in East African Musa genotypes assessed. ► High receptivity but low specificity to the fungi exists among Musa genotypes. ► High variability in root colonization exists within the site among Musa genotypes. ► Strong genotype-environmental interactions affect Musa roots and AMF symbiosis.
