Abstract
												â¶ A boreal AS soil contains more organic carbon than the corresponding non-AS soil. â¶ Nitrogen stocks in the C horizons were higher in the AS soil than in the non-AS soil. â¶ Microbial activity in the C horizons of AS soil was high. â¶ The microbial community probably originated with the genesis of AS soils. â¶ AS soils can be conducive to large emissions of CO2 and N2O.
