Abstract
It is important to understand the nature and persistence of OsHV-1 microvariant within seawater in order to undertake aquaculture in hatchery environments, where water reticulation, recirculation, biofiltration, UV and other water treatments may be used. Understanding the distribution and mode of transmission of OsHV-1 within seawater has proven difficult. Experimental studies in controlled environments are important to furthering this understanding.
