Recognition memory in tree shrew (Tupaia belangeri) after repeated familiarization sessions

► Tree shrew, as a new model, showed robust long term memory 24 h after 3 days of training. ► But tree shrew did not show strong long term memory retrieval after a 1-day training. ► We showed repeated exposure to objects consolidates memory. ► We showed different time courses for habituation and emergence of novelty preference. ► Individual differences in total exploration influence the degree of novel object exploration in a proportionate manner.
