Abstract
A taxonomic revision of the Mexican species of the genus Mastostethus Lacordaire is presented. Mastostethus perroudi Pic and M. quadrilineatus Guerin-Meneville were not included because of the lack of specimens. Mastostethus gracilis RodrÃguez-Mirón y M. gozioi RodrÃguez-Mirón are described as new species. We established 6 new synonyms and designated 4 lectotypes and 5 paralectotypes. Before this study, 22 species were recorded for Mexico; however, after the establishment of new synonymies and the description of new taxa, the current number of species recorded for Mexico is 19. Moreover, we updated data of geographic distribution and we illustrated for the first time the aedeagus for 14 species and the spermatheca for 11 species.
