Abstract
Plant improvement has increased rubber and biomass yields but at the same time changed the resin to rubber ratios from 1:1 to 2:1, and thus increases the resin component. Other Parthenium genus with large biomass and resin content could provide a valuable source of raw material for natural wood preservatives. The future appears promising to develop existing and other species if the resin becomes an economically viable product.
