Abstract
As a result of the review of past literature and the authors' survey, 148 species of butterflies in the Gwangneung Forest are listed, which has been well known as a natural relic of Korea. Eight species such as Isoteinon lamprospilus Felder and Felder, Favonius cognatus Staudinger, F. korshunovi (Du-batolov and Sergeev), Pseudozizeeria maha (Kollar), Spindasis takanonis Matsumura, Aldania themis (Leech), Argynnis zenobia Leech and Erebia wanga Bremer are newly added to this fauna based on the surveys during 2000-2004. This list incorporates taxonomie changes and corrections in scientific names and the deletion of 11 species erroneously recorded. Historical review and discussions on the tendency of occurrences for some species are also provided.
