Abstract
Fruit, an edible part of the plant has propitious effects on living entities. The work focuses on therapeutic potential of seven indigenous fruit varieties of India namely Punica granatum, Citrus reticulata, Vitis amurensis, Carica papaya, Vitis vinifera, Ananas comosus and Ficus carica against Uropathogen, Pseudomonas aeruginosa SU 18. The concentrated fruit juices were used for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNps). The concentrated fresh fruit juices were subjected for TLC bioautography followed with GC-MS analysis to identify the bioactive compounds. Punica granatum, Citrus reticulata, Vitis vinifera and Vitis amurensis were showing antibacterial activity against the uropathogen. Punica granatum and Citrus reticulata were found to inhibit the motility of P. aeruginosa SU18. Using the concentrated fresh fruit juices, crystalline nanoparticles of size 19-45 nm was produced. AgNps produced using juices of Punica granatum, Carica papaya, Citrus reticulata and Ficus carica were exhibiting antibacterial activity against P.aeruginosa SU 18 and even the AgNPs were effectively inhibiting the swarming motility. AgNps of Carica papaya and Ananas comosus were found to destabilize the membrane of P.aeruginosa SU 18.
