Abstract
This paper presents a novel topology for a 10Â GHz voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The design uses a differential delay cell architecture with four stages. It achieves a wide frequency range of (2-10) GHz and a maximum KVCO variation of 2.5 by using a voltage controlled resistor (VCR) that has a programmable size to reduce the impact of temperature and process corners variations. The design uses a 1Â V supply and consumes a maximum power of 18Â mW. It was extracted and simulated in 90Â nm CMOS technology.
