Abstract
⺠Role of the Ciona intestinalis pharynx in immune surveillance is investigated. ⺠Evidence that C3 is expressed and functionally active is provided. ⺠C3 localization in the pharynx tissue is determined. ⺠C3 up-regulation and activation by LPS is demonstrated.
