Abstract
A multifaceted approach using best practices improves the success of student nurses in medication calculation proficiency. In addition, analysis of mistakes made on proficiency examinations suggests the grounds for recurring errors. Specific strategies and teaching points are outlined to help students avoid pitfalls in medication calculations. Adoption of these strategies may promote similar student success for other nursing programs.
