Abstract
⺠Nosema disease is responsible for considerable economic losses among apiculturists. ⺠336 Honeybees from 18 prefectures in Japan were examined for the presence of Nosema species. ⺠N. ceranae appears to be patchily distributed across Japan. ⺠N. ceranae may be displacing N. apis in A. mellifera in Japan.
