► Heterorhabditis baujardi and two Steinernema spp. detected in Cameroon. ► H. baujardi is prevalent and found in both agricultural and undisturbed soils. ► Nematode distribution related with soil features, latitude and population density. ► Rising pH and longitude linked to decreasing altitude increase nematode frequency.
