Abstract
► This is a first report concerning cytotoxicity, CYP450 inhibition and antioxidant activity of Mutellina purpurea extracts. ► The aqueous extract is characterised as having considerably minor influence on CYP4A4 and CYP2D6 isoenzymes. ► The higher cytotoxicity is observed for methanolic extract, on both BHK-21 and HeLa cell lines. ► The both M. purpurea extracts have quite similar antioxidant activity in ABTS assay. ► Tested extracts are likely to inhibit drug metabolizing enzymes, but less likely to produce significant drug interactions.
