Abstract
► We evaluated the inactivation of food-borne viruses by pulsed light. ► Plaque assay has been used to calculate the inactivation rates. ► High reduction (5-logs) was achieved in suspension or on disks. ► Efficacy of pulsed light depends on the duration of pulses and the presence of organic matter. ► Pulsed light could be used to inactivate viruses in drinking water or on food-handling surfaces.
