Abstract
Pet food, animal feed and other protein-based food commodities were recently found to contain melamine, an industrial chemical used in the manufacturing of plastics, flame retardants, and other products. The US Food and Drug Administration do not approve it for use in food or animal feed. Then there is a need for analytical methods to determine melamine that may be present in dry animal feed. Cause the validation is required for the analytical methods used in the official control of feed, we validated a Gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy method according to 2004/882/CE regulation.
