Abstract
► We examined levels and serovars of Salmonella on two farms re-using litter. ► Re-use litter tended to show lower Salmonella (levels and serovars) than new litter. ► Lower water activity in re-used litter have played a role. ► From a food safety view point re-use litter is no worse that fresh litter.
