Abstract
⺠We investigate the gendered impact of the 2007-2008 food price crisis in rural Ethiopia. ⺠FHHs are more likely to have experienced a food price shock in 2007-2008. ⺠FHHs are more likely to cope by reducing the frequency and quality of food consumed. ⺠Land-particularly good quality land-has a protective effect against food price shocks.
