Abstract
⺠We examine the effect of a consumption tax based on CO2 equivalents for 23 different foods. ⺠The calculated changes in consumption are based on systems of demand elasticities from the AIDS. ⺠The most efficient scenario decreases CO2 emission with 2.3-8.8% at a cost of 0.15-1.73 DKK/kilo. ⺠We include health effects in terms of changes in the intake of calories, saturated fat and sugar. ⺠Taxes are a low cost way of promoting climate friendly diets without large adverse health effects.
