Abstract
⺠We examine news coverage of the 2010 Iowa egg recall due to Salmonella Enteritidis. ⺠Poor production practices and government oversight were framed as causal factors. ⺠Little attention was given to industrial agricultural as causal frame. ⺠Both consumer and policy-focused means of risk reduction were proposed. ⺠Coverage failed to fully place the recall within the context of previous outbreaks.
