Abstract
⺠Using firm-level data we investigate the export behavior of Italian food firms. ⺠We focus on the relationship between TFP, product quality and exports across destinations. ⺠The elasticity of export intensity to quality is increasing in the income of destinations. ⺠We find also support to the Alchian and Allen effect on 'shipping the good apples out'.
