Abstract
⺠We examine if low adoption levels of modern maize in Malawi reflect farmer interest in a diversity of maize seed attributes. ⺠Results show farmers value local and modern maize seed for different production, processing, and consumption benefits. ⺠Results suggest Malawi maize breeding research should emphasize several maize variety traits rather than grain yield alone.
