Abstract
► Widespread migration in Ghana does not substantially affect food expenditure levels or patterns. ► Migration increases food expenditures in high migration areas, primarily on less nutritious foods. ► Results suggest limited tangible impacts of migration on the consumption of the poor. ► Facilitating the transmission of remittances would boost food security benefits of migration. ► Better data is required to assess the link between migration and nutrition or food security.
