•Two stochastic sensors were tested for the assay of leptin, PAI-1, IL-6, and MCP-1.•The stochastic sensors were based on graphene paste and protoporphyrin-IX.•Saliva, serum, and cerebrospinal fluid were screened using the proposed sensors.•The screening test was highly reliable.
Two stochastic sensors based on metal grapheme nanocomposites paste modified with protoporphyrin-IX were tested for the assay of adipokines (leptin, PAI-1) and cytokines (IL-6, MCP-1). Both stochastic sensors showed reliable response characteristics and very low determination limits: 10 pg L− 1 for IL-6, 1.25 pg L− 1 for leptin, 1 fg L− 1 for PAI-1 and 1 pg L− 1 for MCP-1. Screening tests were performed for saliva, serum, and cerebrospinal fluids with high reliabilities, in a very short time. The panel of adipokines and cytokines assayed from biological fluids may serve for fast detection of diseases related to obesity.
