Abstract
Microfluidic devices with bi-layer substrates of different stiffness but the same surface chemistry were used for cell culture studies. Whereas the proposed microfluidic culture platform is advantageous for data collection and minimum consumption of material and reagents, the bi-layer substrate provides unique alternation of material properties to elucidate the mechanic responses of different types of cells, including mouse embryo fibroblasts, embryonic stem cells and cerebella granule cells.
