Abstract
⺠Mentholated ointment applied to nostrils of horses following blood sampling in lairage. ⺠Treatment had reduced plasma concentrations of epinephrine and norepinephrine. ⺠Mentholated ointment applied to nostrils of horses pre-slaughter reduced stress response. ⺠Mentholated ointment could be used as alternative to or in combination with visual barriers.
