Abstract
⺠BS is safe in single oral doses for Wistar rats. ⺠BS protected the gastric mucosa against ethanol lesions. ⺠A mechanism of elimination of BS in biliary tract is proposed. ⺠An increase in biliary salts is a proposed mechanism to hepatotoxicity. ⺠BS is likely to undergo a first-pass effect after oral absorption.
