Abstract
⺠Chestnuts have conservation issues. ⺠Methyl bromide was banned by the E.U. due to its toxicity. ⺠Gamma radiation might be a valuable, cheap and clean alternative. ⺠Analyses of biological and physico-chemical parameters are important. ⺠Irradiation is a potential tool in extending post-harvest shelf-life of chestnuts.
