Abstract
► Fresh mushrooms are very popular in Poland due to their use in traditional cuisine. ► We examine the content of chlorinated hydrocarbon in edible mushrooms from Poland. ► Mushrooms can be regarded as potential bioindicators of environment pollution. ► Mushrooms from Poland are an attractive foodstuff due to the low level of chlorinated hydrocarbons. ► The ability of mushrooms to accumulate DDT and γ-HCH depends on a variety of factors.
