► Ginsenoside Rb1 has inhibitory effect on osteoclastogenesis from Raw264.7 cells. ► Inhibiting NF-κB, JNK and p38 activation was involved in Rb1's action. ► Rb1 contributes to the anti-osteoporosis activity of ginsenosides. ► Rb1 can be used as a potential herbal drug for postmenopausal osteoporosis.
