Abstract
⺠Characterization of representative cultivars of Portuguese PDO chestnuts with highest production levels. ⺠Results are important to create/update databases/composition tables about chestnut chemical composition. ⺠Chemical features could be useful in the guarantee of chestnut PDO authenticity. ⺠Differences by harvesting year and cultivar were statistically assessed. ⺠A fast and reliable assay (tocopherols/LDA) might classify chestnut samples, conveying economical benefits.
