Abstract
► Beetroot juice modulates the effect of NDEA on cytochromes P450 1A1, 1A2, 2E1 and 2B. ► Beetroot juice increases the activity of phase II enzymes: NQO1 and GST. ► Beetroot juice reduces the genotoxic effect of NDEA and the level of liver injury biomarkers. ► Metabolic alterations induced by beetroot juice feeding may protect against liver damage.
