Abstract
⺠We examined the safety of EvesseTMEPC, an apple polyphenol extract rich in epicatechin. ⺠Evesseâ¢EPC showed positive responses in two in vitro genotoxicity studies. ⺠Evesseâ¢EPC was negative in three in vivo genotoxicity studies studies. ⺠Therefore, Evesseâ¢EPC was not of human health concern with respect to genotoxicity. ⺠The NOAEL in a 90-day study in rats was 2% in the diet (⩾1.3 g EvesseTMEPC/kg bw/day).
