Abstract
► Mangiferin is a natural xanthone C-glucoside with pharmacological properties. ► Its antioxidant properties are fundamental to some of its biological properties. ► Glucuronidation, but no sulphation took place in rat liver fractions. ► Glucuronidation most likely occurred at C-6, and to a lesser extent, at C-7. ► Glucuronidation eliminated the on-line antioxidant activity of mangiferin.
