Abstract
► A polyphenol enriched cocoa extract with 28% of procyanidins has been obtained. ► The extract was efficient as free radical scavenger and it might not be pro-oxidant. ► The antioxidant properties were assayed in Hep G2 cells treated with OTA and/or AFB1. ► PECE increased the viability and reduced the ROS in cells treated with OTA or AFB1 + OTA.
