Abstract
⺠First report on the cytotoxicity of aloe-emodin (AE) in HK-2 cells. ⺠AE can induce apoptosis through G2/M phase arrest and caspase-3 activation. ⺠Endoplasmic reticulum stress is involved in AE-induced apoptosis. ⺠AE should be considered as a potential nephrotoxicant.
