Abstract
⺠Sublethal stress conditions were determined for Arcobacter butzleri and Campylobacter jejuni. ⺠The bacteria were adapted to the sublethal stresses and exposed to further stress. ⺠Specific adaptive responses and cross-protective effects were evaluated. ⺠Heat stress induced cross-protection against lethal acid conditions in A. butzleri. ⺠Cross-protection of A. butzleri has not been previously reported.
