Abstract
⺠Communities found on modified atmosphere packaged Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) are variable. ⺠Photobacterium spp. were not detected using either culture-based or DNA-based methods. ⺠After fifteen days the communities are dominated by Carnobacterium spp. or Shewanella spp. ⺠Lactic acid bacteria may have greater importance in fresh modified atmosphere packaged fish than previously observed.
